2017 Outdoorsman Triathlon

Hi Outdoorman Triathletes!

To those who braved the hurricanes, the results from the 42nd Outdoorsman Triathlon are now available at https://outdoorsmantriathlon.org/2017-race-results/. A couple notable events at this year’s race included two of the Race Founders, Payson Kennedy & Russ Callen, competing and the third founder, John Burton, showing up at registration to talk story about the early years of the Outdoorsman. Russ Callen (73) completed his 42nd running of the Triathlon (escorted on the run and paddle by Dodge Havens & BR Carson). Russ remains the only competitor to have competed in all 42 individual triathlon races!  Payson Kennedy (84) again paddled on the winning Guru (over 65 age group) relay team with a stunning paddle time. Southwestern Community College Outdoor Leadership Club won the First Citizen Bank Collegiate Challenge. Also we welcome three new athletes to the elite cadre of those who have completed the Outdoorsman Individual Race: Matt Travers (22), Zack Jacobs (28), and Kade Havens (14) – Congratulations and welcome to a rarefied group of exceptional athletes!

Don’t forget to visit the Outdoorsman Triathlon Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/OutdoorsmanTriathlon  for more photos and commentary and it’s not too late to start training for next year! Next year’s race (the 43rd Outdoorsman Triathlon) will be on the last full weekend in September, September 29-30, 2018.

Thanks again for all your support!
